Overview

Have you ever experienced as a farmer in a coastal area with a combination of continual agriculture, forestry and fisheries? VVS has desired an Agriculture – Forestry – Fishery Camp for the purpose of bringing new experiences of the volunteers through  practical activities of program to call for protection of natural environment and build sustainable farming practices for people living in the vicinity of the world’s biosphere –Xuan Thuy National Park.

Highlights

• Participating in activities to promote images of climate change, protection of the world’s biosphere.
• Joining people for harvesting clams
• Participating in activities of collecting MG snail – a PG species eat  young rice plant, and cause the rice field to disappear very quickly.
• Planting trees for expanding area of mangroves.
• Doing homestay activities, help families raise livestock and poultry.
• Participating in the activities of aquaculture skills, skills in agriculture and animal husbandry skills of people here.
• Participate in activities such as skill games in order to make fishermen and  farmers be a forest guard.

What the project says

Our mission is to bring a meaningful program for youth all over the world in their vacation, particularly, bring an opportunity for participants to experience about natural wild, agriculture and fishery in a countryside of Vietnam.
We aim to give an opportunity to  participants of self-development, a transparent style and a  willing help to give back our communities.

We also promote respect of wild forest, protect environment surrounding by community and develop  fresh and safe food products..

Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive into Hanoi city (Noi Bai airport)

This will be the first day you come to Vietnam join in our project. VVS staff will pick you up from Noi Bai airport directly to the accommodation where it will be your home during the time you stay in Vietnam and work in our project. Then you will have a rest of the day, if this day still remaining in working time, we will have a short orientation at the homestay for you for all needed procedure for your stay and get involved in the project.

Day 2

A short training about lesson preparation will be conducted to you, some policies on transportation and how to be safe in the trips. Then, you will have time to visit and say hello to local people, visit the field and staffs whom you will work with. The time for this will complete a day early and then you  have time to discover something surrounding you.

From Day 3 to the end of duration (Working day only)

From Day 3, you will be working with  full time support of Vietnamese staff members and will be involved in a variety of tasks that will be scheduled for you everyday. You both join in the farm works and help local people plan trees, vegetables and feed the animals as well as have sea products… Everything would be great to you and you should do it initiative, it is very helpful for you to make a friendly way to work with local people, give the best thing for them and you also get the best feeling joining  them.

If you are an English native speaker, it will be great for you to give some English lesson for local people. It will be a great opportunity for them, especially for local student, It may be the first time for them to speak to Foreigners.

Saturday & Sunday): This is the weekend and free time.

It will be a flexible time for you to choose travel somewhere in Vietnam or the place you want to go. From project site, it is very interesting for you to take a tour around and meet new people, do shopping.

In addition, if you want to go some beautiful place inVietnam, VVS can also consult you somewhere you should go or the best services that will be suitable for you. You decide to spend your weekends, we’re sure you won’t be bored as Vietnam is a fascinating, beautiful country with so much to see and do.It will be a flexible time for you to choose travel somewhere in Vietnam or the place you want to go. On our website, it is very interesting for you to take a tour around and meet new people, learn new thing and do some shopping.

In addition, if you want to go some beautiful places inVietnam, VVS can also give you the best advice where to go, what to do or offer best services for you. We ensure that you won’t be bored if you decide to travel at the weekend because Vietnam is a fascinating, beautiful country. There’s a lot of things to see or to do on your trip.

Your Final day

Have a small farewell party to say goodbye to all your new  friends, take your final photos and pack  full of souvenirs in your bag. You’ll go to the airport, otherwise, you will be off for a further adventures plan. The return transfer from your accommodation to Noi Bai airport is not covered within your project fee, VVS is  able to make recommendations and help you arrange a transfer if necessary. You should budget approximately US$25 for this trip.

Project

This special program is an opportunity for volunteers to share difficulties with the local community and reserve environment in Xuan Thuy national park. Besides, we hope to bring members a meaningful volunteer program combine with ecological tourism, refreshment and cultural exchange.

During the work camp, volunteers would have as many chances as possible to contact with local people, discover their cultures as well as help the community reserves their unique living environment and ecosystem in Xuan Thuy national park. A “culture-exchange day” would be held to promote the understanding within different groups of people and between international volunteers and Vietnamese people.

Throughout the year, various trips are arranged for volunteers. The objectives of the excursions are to be fun but more important to protect ecosystems in Xuan Thuy National Park. The trips include water parks, walks and beach trips or tree plantings in the small islands. Volunteers will go with local Young Union by board to gather waste in water parks and see the beauty of natural ecosystem with a variety of plans and bird species in the National Park.

Location
The site of programs is located adjacent to Xuan Thuy National Park which  is a Mangroves of  Vietnam and the world’s biosphere in Ramsa conventions. Pristine mangrove forests are biodiversity ecosystem with rich vegetation is the abode of migratory birds in winter, and is home to thousands of rare animals in the red book world. Simultaneously with the cultivated cultural characteristics of the people here has become a tradition, which has brought a cultural village characterized by combining agriculture, forestry and fishery.

Role of Volunteer
Volunteers plays an important role in the success of the workcamp. Volunteers will participate in activities to help people in the farm chores, are directly involved in activities within the framework of the workcamp. At the same time volunteers are the source of encouragement for building an  image of nature protection zones around national biosphere.

• Health Status: good health, not suffering from diseases like high blood pressure, allergies to insects.
• Spirit: love nature; love to explore, to experience life

Activities and schedule
The activities and schedule will be set by VVS or  inquiries and suggestion from the participants. The plan will be fixed before the trip happen. All of the activity plans will be send and let participants know via email.

Project resources and advice
All  support for activities in the project will be provided by VVS and local support. You just only need to bring all your clothes necessary for you. There are four seasons in the North of Vietnam: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. The weather is really hot in Summer, cool in Autumn and Spring, and really cold winter. Then when you plan to go to Vietnam take part in the project, you should check the time and weather.
Cameras, laptop will be very helpful for you to record all interesting things and memorable things.  Don’t forget some books and other entertainment for relaxing in the evenings

Accommodation

VVS’s staff will support the volunteer to find the accommodation that best suits your requirements and budget. The guest house, home stay, hotel is available for approximately $80 per week depending upon the holiday seasons; it is really comfortable accommodation with WIFI, TV and all modern conveniences.

Accommodation facilities
The restaurants are available in or near the guesthouse, then you can join in any meal as your inquiries. You should budget roughly $80 per week for food. In some days, the journey will take a whole day, then foods should be prepared before the journey start and VVS staff will help you chose which is the best food or where we can buy it for our journeys. Taking part in the journey, it will get much energy from you, so you should make sure that food will suit to you to have good health for the trip.

Things to bring from home
If you are travelling to the project between May and September please ensure that you bring some short and cool clothes, and some warm clothes should prepare for some cold night. Although the days are usually bright and sunny, nights and early mornings can get cold. Finally, don’t forget some books and other entertainment for relaxing in the evenings.

Where is the accommodation?
Right on site! No need to walk farther or get up any earlier than you absolutely have to..
