“Preserve natural resource and help community in Sapa” workcamp will be the best placement for you. This unique program is an opportunity for volunteers to share experiences with a local community development group. The program brings participants a meaningful education program combined with ecological tourism, helping to improve the living standard of the local ethnic minority groups and developing unique cultural exchange.
Highlights:
Assist villagers to improve English communication skills and to develop more effective techniques to approach and sell their products to tourists.
Assist with setting up and improving local home stay projects.
Guide locals and tourists to throw waste in the right place and to protect the environment and wildlife. Work with the local community to educate and raise the people’s consciousness about natural forest protection.
Participate in tree planting projects to help regenerate the natural environment.

Itinerary

Dates, durations of stay, activities and so on are up to you – we design all our vacations individually, so you can have exactly what you want.
Day 1:Arrival at Hanoi.  Vietnamese volunteers will pick you up to the hotel. You’ll have time to relax and take part in the orientation for participants before a welcome dinner at a good restaurant. Then you have free time at night to take a tour around the Sword (Hoan Kiem) lake and Old quarter and also free to take part in some cultural performances such as Water puppet, folk songs music and so on.
Day 2:Hanoi/Lao Cai. Vietnamese volunteers will take you to exploreVietnam’s capital city with the considerable palaces such as Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum,Temple ofLiterature, and Ethnology Museum for an overview ofVietnam’s 54 ethnic groups in anticipation of your trip to Sapa. After lunch, you’ll have time to visit the serene Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest in Hanoi, on the banks ofHanoi’s Ho Tay (West)Lake. After that have dinner and board overnight sleeper train at the 9 pm to Lao Cai.
Day 3:Try the Giay ethnic minority’s lifestyle in Sapa. Picked up at Laocai Station early in the morning by our bus. Arrive at Sapa round 8:00 AM; Relax and have breakfast at Hoang Gia hotel. Start trekking at 10h30am  to get to Ta Van village. Enjoy the overall pictures of the villages among terraces. Visit the H’mong living in wooden and bamboo houses. Stay the night in Tavan village at a Dzay family. In the evening, you’ll join some of the locals in the village communal house to listen to folk songs and watch the traditional dancing of the Tay and Red Dzao people on the community’s vernacular musical instruments.
Day4- 5:Preserve natural resources Sapa.  Every morning, plant tree as a contribution to the re-forestation of Ta van Village. Afternoon, trekking to some place such as the waterfall and Cloud Bridge, trekking to Lao Chai village to see the daily life and culture of black H’Mong ethnic group. Evening is cultural exchange, you can teach some simple English sentence for local people! In turn, you have opportunities to experience directly the folk songs and music instruments of ethnic minorities.
Day 6:Help local people to harvest and disseminate experience in producing, processing and storing agricultural products. If having flexible time, you can go fishing and relaxing at the springs near village and enjoying beautiful sightseeing of ancient stone age near Ta van village.
Day 7:Visit to Ta Van School to organize fun games and give presents including books, notebooks and other learning equipments to all very poor students and. Free time in the afternoon; go shopping and visit Ham Rong mountain where you have an overview of Sapa town. Evening you can join in Love market of Sapa Town where you can see varieties of colorful ethnic minorities.
Day 8:Do charity at Tam Duong school 7h00: Have breakfast then go to Tam Duong Market . After that we go to visit the poorest village in Tam Duong (Pape village -Laos minority people). Chatting with the villagers at their house then visit a school, have a talk the children and give some souvenirs! Taking picture with them and back to Tam Duong for lunch. Check out hotel then cycle to visit Tien Son cave (Heaven ‘cave) just discovered after 1979 with so many amazing stalactites. After 1 hour discover the cave, we go back to Sapa by jeep.17h00: leave Sapa for Lao Cai station, have dinner in the restaurant, and then get on the night train, soft sleeper back to Hanoi.5h00 a.m: arriveHanoi, our guide will pick up and drop you off at your hotel. Workcamp ends.

Project

Project
What does the project do?
The hill-tribe groups of Vietnamare a collection of diverse, exotic communities. Despite the natural beauty of their environment they have some of the lowest standards of  living, health and education in the country. Many young people from these communities do not attend school and begin working at a very young age.
VVS organizes workcamp with meaningful program to help local people and bring volunteer opportunity to get unforgettable experience of the real life with totally different cultures and lifestyles of ethnic minorities in the Northern Vietnam by staying and working with the villagers.
Why we need volunteer?
The project is meaningful program for the participants make a different in their way to help the local community and protect the environment. The activities in the project are mainly conducted both Vietnamese and International volunteers in the local area of the North of Vietnam.
All volunteers will cooperate in developing a curriculum, educational games and other activities that suit the individual’s needs. Both teams of volunteers will have a responsibility to teach the communication, and life skills.
Furthermore, there are a large of place should be covered by trees; the tree planting activities will be conducted by volunteer. It will be a opportunity to raise the campaign about protect the environment. Culture exchange day and communication between volunteers and local people will help the minority ethnic people understand about the outside world and help them to improve their life and mind. It will be make a different for them to change their life positively.
Main activities
A variety of activities will be conducted by volunteers in flexible time with 4 hours per day. Other time you may wish to enjoy Sapa and trekking around. You will have time to experience the way of life earning from local people and then give them ideas that can improve their life skills, and bring them more opportunities for the better life in their ethnic minority families.
Special requirement
It is very important that all volunteers be prepared to work with minority ethnic people! Volunteers must be highly motivated and keep in mind that this group of people are the first and most important reason volunteers are asked to work with.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older. This can either be university studies (a degree is not necessary) or relevant working experience.
Participant should have good health to prepare join in the mountainous area.
Donation
The school is very poor at present, then we need a lot of support from volunteers that provide study materials such as pens, books, notebooks, toys, and anything you have that you thing it is good for students or can support them in study. It is very helpful for us if you have any guide book or some materials describe your country, the students can learn about your country and have their knowledge about the outside world.
